DonnaMariaSmith, is an accomplished author, poet, speaker, and Founder and Creative Director of Poetry in Precincts.   Audiences have experienced her lyrical elegance and grace as a featured artist at the Moja African American Literature and Arts Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, and many other venues.  Ms. Smith is a graduate of Clemson University’s School of Engineering and possesses significant experience in the federal government, for-profit, and nonprofit industries. In 2016, Donna began her faithful journey to launch a world-class company that matches police officers and young people using the thread of poetry. Donna has taught poetry and facilitated workshops with students and adults and has succeeded in helping others find their inner voices. Donna is a native of Charleston County, South Carolina who combines her career and life experiences to captivate, enlighten, and inspire others by weaving words the way her grandparents sewed Sweetgrass baskets.
