The African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute (ADACI) will host its 32ndAnnual Ancestral Commemoration: “The Ancestors Speak: Healing from the Waters” in honor of the millions of African Ancestors who perished in the Middle Passage and Survivors who endured chattel slavery. Activities begin promptly at 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024, where we will gather and assemble for an impactful program at Union Temple Baptist Church – 1225 W. Street, SW, DC; followed by a drum procession to the Anacostia River for a spiritual healing and renewal ceremony beneath the 11th Street Bridge.

On Sunday, June 9th, 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm, ADACI will host “Regality Reality: A Celebration of Queen Januwa Moja,” artist and designer renowned for her fiber, glass assemblage and mosaics who, for the past 30 years, has used her art to inspire, heal and impact social change at the Thurgood Marshal Center, 1816 12th Street NW, DC.
